I finally have a nicely working blog system installed for us. This will replace the artist's threads, so if you'd like a blog, let me know by replying here or by PM. You will be manually added to the system, and have your own wordpress blog. You can theme it any way you like (I've installed TONS of them), and I have it enabled to handle all kinds of media uploads.
The primary blog will be dedicated to our project, with the weekly recap being posted there from here on out. If you'd like to register with the primary blog to add project updates, please let me know that also.
Finally, this is a new system for me. If you have any problems accessing your blog, please let me know. Those of you who were there for the discussion today have already had your blogs set up. Check your emails.

I should add that Wordpress is wacky. You may run into some wierd problems. I am installing plugins, and already, I can tell you that some of them are wonky. For the Nextgen gallery plugin (which you will have to activate manually), I had to disable flash upload in order to upload pics without errors.
Just a head's up. Feel free to post your problems/fixes, so we can all learn from them.

I'd be keen. I missed the team discussion earlier so you may have to update me. I now need to have a personal updated portfolio set-up, and could do with some webspace.

Great! I like what you've all done with your blogs so far I'm customizing a theme for me, if you want to take the steps to do so for yourself, send me the modified theme and I will upload it so you can select it.

Gee...awful boring being the only one replying to this thread I found a great magazine style theme for the OWF main page, and one thing I'd like to do is run a "featured artist" section, with a new mini-bio of an OWF artist each month. If you all wouldn't mind taking the time to write up a bio and send it to me, I'll make sure to upload it. First PM I get gets listed first! Pic is optional, but you should have some kind of art to display. I'll place myself there for now, but as soon as someone else gives me a bio to work with, I'll swap it out.

Cool deal...will set it up shortly. Check your email for login information. Be prepared, there is a minor learning curve with wordpress....though I am sure you'll do just fine with it.

Okay, so I've expanded all of the existing blog owner's roles to allow you to publish posts on the OWF blog. I STRONGLY encourage you all to do so, as we want that blog to have a lot of content for the soon-coming publicity campaign (more on that one later ). The OWF blog will probably the main place casual observers go to follow the project, so we want it to be exciting and interesting. If you make a particularly pertinent forum post, for example, take the extra couple of minutes to copy and paste it into the blog system to add extra content. Maybe down the road, we can rig a bridge that will auto-post between wordpress and phpbb3, but for the time being, it'll need to be done manually. Now, regarding the author permissions; I am an admin, and as such, it is tricky to test user permissions. You should be able to make new posts and publish them. If you've read this, take a moment to try to post something....even a test that you can delete when you are done. If you have any problems, let me know and I'll sort them out immediately. Now....there is a pretty fancy wordpress magazine theme running on the site right now, and as such, posting needs to follow a couple of rules. Some of theses are standard, others are specific to this theme in particular: 1.) ALWAYS make sure you post in the proper categorie(s). This is crucial to keeping the site organized, and is very easy to overlook at first. Double check before and after posting to make sure your post is in the right location. 2.) Add any tags to your post that seem relevant. 3.) For this theme, you can display an image on the front page for the post. While this is not required, it looks really nice, so I recommend adding one whenever possible. To add an image, you'll need to prepare a square-cropped version of your image. Size is irrelevant, as the theme will auto-resize to fit the predefined size. This is why it is important to crop you image ahead of time...vertical images, for example, will lead to the top and bottom being cut off on display. To make the image appear in the post, scroll down on the new post page to "custom fields" and add an image tag. In the info field, you'll need to paste this, followed by the name of the file you uploaded: Code: wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2009/03/ IE; if you have a file you have uploaded named "pic.jpg", you would need to add into the field a code that looks like this: Code: wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2009/03/pic.jpg Normally, this would be much simpler, but because this is a multi-user version of wordpress, the location of file uploads is different, and the path must be manually added as such. On a final note, you may notice the "Recent Artist's Posts" on the upper-right hand side. This just pulls the most recent posts from various user blogs. The more you post, the more your name will show up on the main page!

Silly question, but how do I log in to the blog and make any entries? Is there a help page anywhere?

Worse case scenario Matt, you can always go to your blog, and add the extension:
/wp-admin/
To the link...that is your direct access to the control panel of your blog. you can always add a meta widget on the side to give you an easy-to-access login.
If you have other Q', ask away! I am getting pretty well-versed with WP at this point.
