Hey everyone!
Another busy week here at OWF. It seems the addition of deadlines and meetings was just the push we needed to get the project back in motion. It’s funny, but with an open project, you have to shift gears from time to time. In the past, meetings and deadlines have not always been as successful. It’s just a matter of always being willing to adjust your system until it works.
Anyway, enough speculation on the art of online collaboration, let’s get to the actual details of the week.
First, in the …

Great meeting everyone! This bi-monthly, all-day meeting schedule has been working wonders! I think we’ve accomplished more in the last few weeks because of this than any other thing.
1.) SAM system (simple assignment management)
In general, it seems almost everyone is in support of the idea of offering a simple assignment system for non-registered members and casual contributors. This system would be tied to the FMS but on a different page, and would lack a lot of the options available to registered users. In essence, the casual member could access a …

Note: you may have noticed a similar tutorial on the Blender Noob to Pro wikibook. I assure I was the author of the page and this tutorial is 100% original.
Stamping in blender is a rendering option. A stamp on a render can prevent that render from being lost, keeping your project organized, and keeping your files organized.

This post contains a selection of concept art dealing with the character Nia. This post is not all-inclusive, it does include some of the more recognizable art among our members. The sketches are provided by Travellingmatt, and the 3D Concept render was provided by CJ Maynard. There have been a number of different variations of this character, including blue skin. This is an undecided production point as of right now. Like Rhagen, Nia is a physical manifestation of energy, and as such must convey certain aspects. In here case, we …

Next weekend (Saturday for the US folks, Sunday for the AU/NZ folks), we need to have a small progress meeting. This will be like last weekend’s meeting, where I will be on more or less the whole day, and will have a number of bullet points to discuss. Please make an effort to stop by at some point during the day to give some insights. Guests are always welcome, and the chat is set up to allow guests to post. The meeting is also posted in the forums, and listed …
Project Updates, Weekly Recap »
Hey everyone!
There’s been a lot going on here this week, much like last week. For those that attended last weekend’s chat meeting, you know we set a number of goals to be accomplished. One of those goals was a minimum of 25 new storyboard panels to be submitted, and as of today, there are quite a few more than that! Credit goes out to Travellingmatt, Hardhead11 and Tictoon for their work on this. Check out their threads below:
Scenes 8 & 10 (Travellingmatt)
Scene 4 (Hardhead 11)
Scene 7 Shot 3 (Tictoon)

Welcome to the Open World Film Project! If you are just joining us, you’ve probably noticed that the site moves very quickly, and the sheer amount of information to take in can seem daunting. This section is here to act as a guide to the project, the website, and the features. Due to the rapid growth of this website and community, this page will avoid specific topics, and will instead focus on the overall points a new member needs to know.
History
The Open World Film Project was launched on August 19, …

This post contains a selection of recently-contributed concept art dealing with the character Rhagen. While this post is not all-inclusive, it does include some of the most recognizable art among our members. The primary piece (which is this posts’ thumbnail) was submitted by Tyrant Monkey, and is generally considered the most up-to-date piece of concept art for this character, at least as of the time of this posting. While there have been a number of different variations of this character, many which can be found while searching our forums, these …
Project Updates, Weekly Recap »
Hey everyone!
Well, it’s been a much busier week, and it seems like we are getting everyone back on track. For that reason, plus the changes to the site, this recap may be a little longer than most.
First, let’s discuss the changes to the site, since they will be the most obvious. The biggest change, of course, is this blog system. While the master blog is dedicated to documenting the development of the film, this is not your normal wordpress blog. This blog system also allows any number of secondary, free-standing …

Hey everyone! This blog utility is a great addition that will give great insight into the artists behind the work.
I wanted my first post to reflect my priorities. I want to thank CJ for everything. Every day I am amazed by the work he does for this project, even with a real life (admit it, [...]
