Note To Parents
From Openworldfilm
While the Open World Film Project aims to be open to people of all ages, we understand that in this day and age, the internet can be a dangerous place for kids. This document is an explanation of our project, goals, and intentions. It also serves as our declaration that www.openworldfilm.com will be kept as family-safe as possible.
1.) The Project
The purpose of the Open World Film project is for a team of collaborators to create a 3D animation film on-line, rather than the traditional approach where all contributors are in a studio together. While many projects are for-profit, this project has no goals financially, relying on open-source software and community participation to create and release an equally open-source film. No one on the team receieves any form of payment, including myself. This is strictly for the experience and joy of creating a piece of art.
2.) The team members
Our team members span the globe, with many in Australia and the US. All are 3D graphics enthusiasts. Ages range from 14 to mid 50's. All members are aware of the rules, and treat Open World Film as a "PG" environment to work in. We respect that some members are younger, and refrain from posting foul language or innapropriate imagery.
3.) Site content
As stated above, the site members all have an agreement to keep innapropriate content off the website. There is not a history of spam attacks on the site, and the security is fairly tight. Multiple members possess the power to remove bad posts should they appear. That said, this site does not have a history of having any problems, even with bad language. You are certainly welcome to take a look around and see for yourself!
4.) Email addresses
Every member of the project receives an email address for project use. It's not always possible for us to know a member's age, so if your child has signed up and you wish to deny the email address, please send an email to cjmaynard@openworldfilm.com. I will remove it immediately.
5.) Movie content
The film being created would rate somewhere between PG and PG-13. It is an adventure story, with a large, dragon-like creature as the primary bad guy. There will be some scary images, but the script contains no foul language or gore. There will be some epic-scale battle scenes, but action will be from a distance, so as to make the film as visually non-violent as possible.
Please, if you have any concerns, do not hesitate to send me an email at cjmaynard@openworldfilm.com. I would be glad to discuss any issues or ideas you may have. It is our goal for Open World Film to be one of the safest places on the internet.
